About Us

Literacy Volunteers of America-Prince William, Inc. was founded in 1991 by local librarian Dona Swanson. Our mission is to teach adults to read. LVA-PW is an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., a nationwide organization of over 400 affiliates. We take volunteers from the community, train them to be tutors and then match them with adults with low level literacy skills. LVA-PW provides the professional training, material and support that enable the volunteers to be effective tutors. All services to the student are free.

If you would like more information, would like to sign up for The Tutor Training Workshop or have comments or questions concerning LVA-PW call the office at 703-670-5702.

Are you or someone you know interested in working on their reading, writing or math skills or improving their English? Please call the office and set up an appointment with our Program Coordinator and we will start the process.

Office Hours

The LVA-PW office is open on Monday - Thursdays from 10:00am - 3:00pm. For additional inquires or service after hours, please call the office and leave a message, or email the LVA-PW staff at lvapw@aol.com
