Community Support

Community support is vital to the success of LVA-PW and to the success of our students. I encourage you to get involved and share the gift of reading - give of your time and become a tutor, join our LVA-PW Board of Directors, make a donation to LVA-PW, or become an LVA-PW volunteer and organize a fundraising or community awareness event. You'll be glad you did. Please call the LVA-PW office at 703-670-5702 to sign-up and get involved!

Our December 2009 holiday Bell Ringing fundraiser was quite the success this year! We raised $3,780 from "ringing" and $650 from the "Buy-A-Bucket" challenge for a total of $4,430 in three days! A very WARM and sincere thank you to all of our volunteer "ringers" who volunteered to "ring in" this successful event: Laura and Kathy Baum, Valerie Ritter, Joe Schu, Diane Edwards, the Scannell family and friends, Cynthia Schell, Patti Beattie, Diane & Orland Van Bavel, Joanna Crutchley, Julie Rossi, Tracy Walker, Karen Smith, Judie Silcox, Dave Forcier, Chris Sells, Don Lewis, Eric Schwartz, Phyllis Raynor Surrett, Darlene Macy, Jasmin McDonald, Bob Orazi, Joe Hebert, Ken Deal, the Collassard family, Doug Thompson, Pat Sodo, Laura Ellis, Caroline Zong, Vicki Gross, Ken Ikeda, Scott and Kim Sells, and George Kerr.

A sincere thank you to others who volunteered to ring on the last scheduled day but didn't get the chance because of a little BLIZZARD!!! I know that you are all disappointed - we'll make it up to you next year! Sara B. Anderson, Peter Lineberry, Joe Waite, Rick Palermo, Mary Langley, Darlene Macy, Vicki Gross, Caroline Zong, Joanna Crutchley, Diane & Orland Van Bavel, Tracy Walker, Ken Ikeda, Chris Sells, Judie Silcox, and George Kerr.

Thank you to Al Alborn, Martha Kobliska, Ed & Barbara Ball, Supervisor Michael May, Jeanne & Joe Mitcho, and Cindy & Lewis Kleiman for "Buying-A-Bucket" to help add the additional $650 "ring" to our bell ringing fundraiser!

Thank you to all of the generous PWC friends and neighbors who donated so generously!

2009 Car Wash Fundraiser!

After over one week of heavy rains, the skies cleared on Saturday, May 9, for the LVA-PW car wash. Forty-three volunteers came out to hold signs along Dale Boulevard and Minnieville Road advertising our car wash. Other volunteers worked in shifts washing car after car! We had students from middle schools and high schools helping as well, working on those community service hours. The turn out was better than we had anticipated. We raised $825.00! Way to go volunteers! An enormous thank you goes out to all of the volunteers for your caring and dedication to our cause!
